Have you ever had a time when you don’t want dinner food for dinner? Sometimes it can be breakfast night. Tonight we went with app night. Sliders and pizza sticks are a great way to have a lighter dinner while still having some fun (or at least feeling like you are having some real food).
Veal Sliders and Pizza Sticks
1lb veal (pretty much any ground meat can work here)
1 tablespoon cuban seasoning (this was a supermarket spice mix)
mix thoroughly and then cook through
Onion Jam Ingredients:
1 medium onion, julienned
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
combine it all and cook on low till onion is cooked through and vinegar is reduced to syrup
2 cups water
1 teaspoon yeast
5-6 cups flour
2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon olive oil
mix yeast and water and allow yeast to soften (about 10 minutes. Add 5 cups flour, salt and olive oil to water and mix till it comes away from the bowl. pour onto floured surface and knead for 12-15 minutes adding flour as needed.
roll into ball and place in bowl that has been lightly oiled. Turn the dough ball over to coat. Allow to rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Punch dough down and then cut into desired weight (2 to 3 ounces works well for this). allow dough balls to rest (covered) for 10 minutes.
The dipping sauce for these can be as simple as your favorite pizza sauce.
