Conspiracy Theory

Conspiracy Theory

I could dip my toes into the freaky waters of conspiracy theory about current celebrity deaths, but I just don’t think it is worth the time right now. Who am I kidding… Come on, this is crazy. Just dipping into the highlight reel of the past couple days after the death of David Bowie, we now have Alan Rickman who died under similar circumstances and the same age as Bowie. But now we have Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams). And then in a search I just found out that Pat Harrington (played Schneider on the show One Day at a Time). And the list goes on.

It seems like once we hit 2016 Death came off holiday and said “Time to make the Doughnuts.” All a sudden, boom, and their all dropping like flies. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that we can come up with all sorts of conspiracy theories about all this. And the crazy thing, I find myself talking about twice in one week now. I may need a hobby…

On a different note, I want to spend a minute or two and talk about some stuff pertaining to a previous conversation. If you recall, I mentioned that at some point, Lightning Jack and the Purple Iguanas will be returning to the world in a visual form. The thoughts have been something along the lines of comics.

This in and of itself could be something along the lines of a conspiracy theory. I mean seriously, what the heck was I thinking. I have always been under the impression that I have no ability to draw a glass of water, let alone something with pencil and paper. I mean, seriously, I couldn’t draw a straight line with a ruler.

And ya know, sometimes we discover things about ourselves that surprise us.

I’m not saying that I am the next Todd McFarlane or anything but I have had moments where I have been a bit shocked at what I could do.

Conspiracy Theory

We go through our lives placed in boxes that say this, that, or the other thing about us and we believe it. More often than not we say who we are to ourselves. And we never realize the limitations we have placed upon ourselves. These limitations force us into little boxes that keep us from exploring the world outside of ourselves.

Conspiracy Theory 2

I guess the message there is Whether you think you can or think you can’t is irrelevant if you don’t bother to try. The sad thing is, we will never try when we believe the lies that tell us it is impossible.

Conspiracy theory 3

For anyone who might be curious. All art is done free hand on an iPad Mini (first Generation). I use the Procreate and Paper by 53 apps. As of a few days ago I have been using a Pencil by 53 for all visual work (well and some use of a finger as well).

I used to use a cheapo throw away stylus but the thing was thin like a pencil. After years of working in factories and working with knives, the thin stylus actually caused more problems physically than I care to admit most of the time. The Pencil stylus from 53 is shaped like a carpenters pencil and much easier to hold and use for people like me who have always worked with their hands and now pay the price of it.

So far most of what I have done has been in charcoal and pencil (digitally of course). The part of me that loves Noir finds the black and white appealing. In the future there will be color works to share but they will appear on a case by case basis.

And as a side note, I know these samples don’t really bear any resemblance to anything comic related. Really, I am working my way through a crash course and learning that I am better than I thought I was.

As I progress through the stages of figuring this thing out there will be more to come. Eventually, I will show case different aspects of the comic as it comes together. And of course, the comic itself will debut here.

So, ever have a moment in your life where you realized you were lying to yourself?
